Branch of Study: Physical Technology (FYT)

This branch of study is situated on the borders between physics and technology. The study program is based on the fundamentals of mathematics and physics with a stress on hands-on training in foundation physical measurements, physical practical work and specialised practical work on the one hand, and on an integral course in experimental physics on the other. This core is then complemented with applied physics, electronics, material science, metrology, the basics of power engineering technologies, etc.

Branch manager: doc. Ing. Goce Chadzitaskos, CSc.

The branch of Physical Technology offers the following:

Bachelor´s Degree course

3 years, completed with a degree Bc.

Branch description:

A strong emphasis is placed on real-world work . Students go on a one week on-site training at a workplace of their choice in the second year of study and they can base their Bachelor´s Project on this. This helps establish links for co-operation and possible later employment and helps students to get a quick grasp of the work associated with this course.

Typically, graduates find positions in which a university degree in physics is required. They are flexible and quick to find solutions to various problems and apply their knowledge in real work , e.g., industry, development, applied research, laboratories and testing rooms of enterprises, at product certifications, in metrology. The course helps students discover both the scientific and practical side of technology in physics.

Graduate profile:

Knowledge: Graduates gain knowledge in fundamental disciplines relating to physics, mathematics and IT expanded into the field of instrumental and technical physics and metrology.

Skills: Use of methods and techniques from the main branches of physics to solve real- world engineering problems with IT back-up.

Competence: Based on their competence, bachelor graduates will find positions in industry, research, and private sector. Their typical features are analytical thinking and a systematic approach to work based on solid knowledge and backed up by IT skills. They can work in laboratories and testing rooms of enterprises, in product certification, metrology or applications relating to optics.
